Five Great Android Apps for Android Tablets

I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab. For those of you who don’t know, the Galaxy tab is Samsung’s 7″ tablet that competes with Apple’s iPad. There are many reviews out for the Galaxy tab, so I am not going to go into details about the device, except to say that I love this thing! Rather, I thought I would share a few of my favorite applications that I’ve collected in the first week of using my new tablet.

1. Pulse News Reader.

Pulse is a RSS aggregation application that aggregates up all your favorite blog and news site into a single app. Pulse takes full advantage of the Galaxy tab’s larger screen allowing you to easily navigate through your favorite news feeds. While this application has been available for some time for Android, it is an absolute must have for Galaxy tab owners.

2. Angry Birds.

The gang at Rovi Mobile have outdone themselves with this fine game. This outstanding game works flawlessly on the Galaxy Tab. Guaranteed to be fun, addictive, and a time waster.

3. Amazon Kindle.

Shh… don’t tell anyone, but the Kindle app that was preloaded on my Galaxy tab is almost better than a real Kindle. Being a Kindle owner, the Android app is a great companion to my Kindle. The app takes full advantage of the larger screen of the Galaxy tab, and I find that it is easier to read in normal lighting conditions than a true Kindle. Clearly the Kindle would win in outdoor reading situations, but for inside use, I reach for my Galaxy tab.

4. The Wall Street Journal.

While this does require a subscription to get the most out of the app. The free edition is quite useful. The app takes full advantage of the Galaxy tab’s larger screen. I am finding myself returning to this almost daily to catch up on whats happening on Wall Street.

5. Twit.tv by Mediafly.

Now you can take Leo and the gang at Twit.tv with you. Quite a few options to stream media live or to download for later playback. The video playback is flawless on the Galaxy tab.
