{"id":30,"date":"2012-10-14T16:25:36","date_gmt":"2012-10-15T00:25:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nerdsector.com\/ns\/?p=30"},"modified":"2012-10-14T18:47:19","modified_gmt":"2012-10-15T02:47:19","slug":"export-exchange-2010-mailboxes-to-pst","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nerdsector.com\/ns\/2012\/10\/14\/export-exchange-2010-mailboxes-to-pst\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Mass Export All Exchange 2010 Mailboxes to PST"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I recently ran into a situation where I needed to mass export all the Exchange 2010 Mailboxes out to PST files.<\/p>\n<p>Use this quick powershell code snippet to accomplish the task:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><code>$mailboxes = get-mailbox<\/code><br \/>\n<code> foreach ($mailbox in $mailboxes) {<\/code><br \/>\n<code> new-mailboxexportrequest -mailbox $mailbox -FilePath \\\\server\\c$\\$mailbox.pst<\/code><br \/>\n<code> }<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Note that the file path must be a UNC path and not a drive letter!<\/p>\n<p>To monitor the status of the exports use the following command:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><code>Get-MailboxExportRequest | Get-MailboxExportRequestStatistics<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Situations where you may need to use this:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Migrate mailboxes completely out of your exchange 2010 environment<\/li>\n<li>Backup all mailboxes in their current state for legal discovery<\/li>\n<li>Backup all mailboxes for import into a email archive application<\/li>\n<li>Historical archive of mailbox out of exchange 2010 for legal or compliance purposes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You may need to add the &#8220;Mailbox Import Export&#8221; role to your administrator account.\u00a0 If so use this command:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><code>New-Managementroleassignment \u2013Role \u201cMailbox Import Export\u201d \u2013User \u201cAdministrator\u201d<\/code><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I recently ran into a situation where I needed to mass export all the Exchange 2010 Mailboxes out to PST files.
